Meadowsweet is one of the most common herbs, growing wild throughout Europe and Asia, and naturalized to grow throughout North America's Eastern coast. It was one of the three sacred herbs renowned by Druids, along with vervain and water-mint. Meadowsweet contains salicin, polyphenolic tannins, especially rugosin-D; 0.5-1.0% flavonoids, quercetin and kaempferol derivatives; phenolic glycosides, mostly spiraein and monotropitin, the primeverosides of salicylaldehyde and methyl salicylate, also isosalicin, a glucoside of salicyl alcohol; volatile oil, mainly; mucilage; and ascorbic acid.*

Safety information: Keep out of the reach of Children. Not to be used during pregnancy. Consult a physician before using if nursing or taking any medications. Use in persons with sensitivity to aspirin or other salicylate-containing drugs is cautioned. Meadowsweet can cause lung spasms, so there is a concern that it might make asthma worse. Taking salsalate with meadowsweet might cause there to be too much salicylates in the body. This might increase the effects and side effects of salicylates. Taking meadowsweet along with choline magnesium trisalicylate (Trilisate) might increase the effects and side effects of choline magnesium trisalicylate (Trilisate). Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredients. Do not use if seal is broken or missing. Store in a cool dry place.
Suggested use and dosage: Shake well before use. Take 8-15 drops, two to five times per day or as directed by your practitioner. The best way to use liquid herbal glycerites is to put the suggested amount in a glass of water or juice and drink the entire contents. Glycerites can also be administered directly into the mouth without the assistance of water however some glycerites are unpalatable which is why most people prefer to dilute them into a beverage. Do not take in large amounts or for a long period of time.
